7 Things You Should Know About NFL Super Bowl 49

7. Seattle Will Try To Be First Repeat Winner Since New England In 2003-04

It's not easy to win the Super Bowl in back to back seasons. That's why it hasn't been done since Bill Belichick's New England Patriots repeated as the Champions in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Now Pete Carroll has a chance to lead his Seahawks to the promised land for the second year in a row. A big reason why Seattle is back in the game is because they didn't lose too many key players from last year. They managed their salary cap well, their core group of players are pretty young with plenty of guys in their early to mid-20s and when you can maintain that nucleus you will always have a shot to get back to the Super Bowl. For New England, they've been in this spot before. It's the 6th time that Belichick has coached the team with Tom Brady as his starting QB. They won a ring during the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons while losing the New York Giants twice for the 2007 and 2011 seasons. There is no clear favorite in the game either. The betting line opened as a "pick 'em" when the matchup was set and that's where it has remained. Some Vegas oddsmakers have it at one point for either team, but it's essentially locked in as an even game. It's fair to say that there really isn't an experience advantage for either side. Let's hope it's better than last year's lopsided 43-8 Seahawks domination of the Denver Broncos. Most people thought that game was going to be close. Don't expect a repeat this year.
