7 Things You Should Know About NFL Super Bowl 49

6. Sherman And Thomas Are Dealing With Injuries

Two key Seahawks defenders are dealing with injuries during this game: All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman has torn ligaments in his elbow and All-Pro safety Earl Thomas has a shoulder injury. The good thing for both players is they've had two weeks to get treatment and they are both expected to play on Sunday. At this point in the season, everybody on every team has some kind of injury. That's just the nature of the game. However, "torn ligaments" sure sounds like it can hurt. What if Sherman's elbow causes him so much pain when somebody hits his arm that he's forced to leave the game? That will hurt Seattle big time. Thomas should be able to play through the shoulder pain, but as a safety he's going to be needed to make some big tackles and you never know if he will aggravate it. There was also another story from Friday that their other All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor might have a sore knee because he left practice a bit early. Word is that he should be fine although like with any injury you never know until it gets tested during the game. In addition to the elbow injury, Sherman's girlfriend is due to deliver their baby any day now. It's unlikely that he would leave the game during the Super Bowl if the baby come on Sunday, but you never know. If he's out of the game, expect the Patriots to take advantage easily.
