8 Crazy Times Premier League Managers Went Nuts

1. Kevin Keegan's Rant

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Yenzdq5g6o In 1996, fans were used to Kevin Keegan's Newcastle side being the ones who were entertaining them. Little did they know that the manager was about to go on a passion-fuelled rant that would go down in Premier League history. After the Magpies romped to a 12-point lead over Manchester United by January 1996, Keegan could only sit and watch as Sir Alex Ferguson's side chipped away at their tally and closed the gap. Eventually the Red Devils overtook Newcastle and the pressure intensified for Keegan. King of the mind games, Ferguson added fuel to the fire in the closing stages of the season by suggesting certain teams possibly wouldn't try as hard against the team in black and white, leading Keegan to have one almighty meltdown live on Sky Sports, saying:
"When you do that with footballers like he said about Leeds, and when you do things like that about a man like Stuart Pearce...I've kept really quiet but I'll tell you something, he went down in my estimations when he said that. We have not resorted to that. You can tell him now, we're still fighting for this title and he's got to go to Middlesbrough and get something. And I'll tell you, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it.But it really has got to me. I've voiced it live, not in front of the press or anywhere. I'm not even going to the press conference. But the battle is still on and Man United have not won this yet."
Manchester United went on to win the title that year, leading to yet another mind-game victory for Ferguson. To this day Newcastle have never been able to get as close to claiming the Premier League title and any future chances seem slim-to-none under the ownership of Mike Ashley.
