8 Newcastle United Players Fighting For New Contracts

Will these eight NUFC stars do enough to earn extended deals?

There will be much upheaval at St James' Park this summer - fresh faces will arrive, including in all likelihood a new head coach, and many will also leave Tyneside. Some players will be sold, while others will not be offered new contracts. With eight players' deals set to expire in the summer, the Newcastle United hierarchy have some big decisions to make on the future of the club. Some deadwood needs to be shifted out, that is for certain, but others must be retained - even just as squad players - if the Magpies do retain their Premier League status and aim to rebuild and avoid a relegation battle again next season. The list of players who have just weeks left on their contracts makes for interesting reading. Yes, there are the likes of Adam Campbell and Remie Streete who have barely ever featured for the Newcastle first team, but regular starters such as Jonas Gutierrez, Sammy Ameobi and Ryan Taylor are also among the players who could leave the North East on a free this summer. Of the eight players whose contracts will be up at St James' Park at the end of the season, here is the likelihood of them being offered new deals in the summer.
