Arsenal Transfers: 10 Deals That Could Happen In January
8. Martin Montoya IN
Barcelona don't often sell off their brightest La Masia talents, but when first-team minutes dry up or other big clubs come calling, players are left with little choice but to move on. At 23-years-old, Martin Montoya is at an important stage of his career. Having graduated from the Catalan club's famed youth academy, the Spaniard has made just 38 league appearances for Barca since earning promotion to the senior side in 2011. He ranks fourth in the right-back pecking order under Luis Enrique, so it's no surprise he's yet to represent La Roja at the highest level. If Montoya wants to change any of this, his best bet is to seek a move elsewhere. Amid interest from around Europe including Liverpool and Arsenal, Montoya's agent Juan de Dios Carrasco has reportedly confirmed he and his client are open to any offers, providing Barcelona will allow the fullback to leave. Paying up to trigger his £16 million buy-out clause seems like a good deal for both Arsenal the player. Montoya would likely slot in as the first-choice right-back ahead of Callum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy or provide stiff competition at the very least. Probability: 8.5/10
