Though Olivier Giroud's Arsenal scoring record is more than respectable and Alexis Sanchez scored 16 league goals in his debut season, Arsenal could do with a world-class number nine.

Karim Benzema would be a perfect fit at Arsenal. Though not the quickest, he is technically gifted, and not many strikers in Europe bring others into play quite as well as the French international. Benzema is also known for being powerful, efficient in front of goal and good in the air.

The 27-year old has 87 goals in 187 games for Real Madrid, and has won seven major honours during his time in the Spanish capital. He has also been capped 77 times by France since making his debut at the age of 19.

Reports suggest Arsenal have had a £31 million bid rejected by Madrid, though the Spanish club could be persuaded to sell for a hefty fee. Should Wenger pursue Benzema, he could just provide the 20+ goals a season to fire The Gunners to their first league title in over a decade.
