5. Seydou Doumbia
Arsenal were one of a string of teams interested in the services of CSKA Moscow's Seydou Doumbia last summer. Manchester City, United and Liverpool were all flirting with bids for the player but all were deterred by CSKA's £25 million valuation of the forward. At one point last year it seemed as though a £16 million bid plus add-ons might be enough to persuade the Russian outfit to sell, but any move for the player failed to materialise when the Ivorian sustained a back injury, ruling him out of action for months. The player has since seen a specialist and his agent James Featherstone has been tasked with resurrecting a deal with Arsenal and any other top sides who show an interest this month. Doumbia is a prodigious goalscorer. He scored 50 times over just two seasons during his time at Young Boys and has since added another 35 to his overall tally at CSKA. Source(s):
