3. Jack Butland
Much has been made of the need for a back-up goalkeeper at Arsenal for next season with second choice keeper Lukas Fabianski expected to follow Manuel Almunia out of the door at the Emirates. If this likely situation were to occur, Arsenal would find themselves without a back up keeper for Wojicech Szczesny next season. This has lead to the name Jack Butland being touted as a possible Arsenal transfer; and he would be an ideal candidate to become Szczesnys understudy next season. The 19 year old goalkeeper is being tipped to be the next big thing in English football, with brilliant performances on loan at Cheltenham Town in League 2 even earning him a spot in Englands Euro 2012 squad as the third choice keeper. Butland is yet to make his senior England debut; however he has appeared for England at every youth level as yet, with 27 appearances between the U16 and U21 age groups to date. His career highlight so far is winning the U17 European Championships with England in 2010. He has made 24 appearances for Cheltenham over two loan spells from Birmingham City conceding only 26 goals as Cheltenham qualified for the play-offs last season. He was recalled to Birmingham for the final three games of the season after an injury to first choice keeper Boaz Myhill. Butland would be an ideal fit for Arsenal as he could provide quality back up in the immediate future, as well as a serious challenge to Szczesny as no.1 keeper in years to come. Jack Butland is certainly one to look forward to in the future and would be a brilliant option to have for next season as Arsenal look to add to their growing crop of promising English talent and challenge for titles. His services will cost in the region of £7 million however, which could be a stumbling block for a prospective transfer.
