Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace - 6 Things We Learned

5. There's A Light On At The Villa

Aston Villa have been terrible this season, I don't think anyone can dispute that. Eight points from twenty games was one point better than Derby managed in their record breaking worst ever Premier League campaign. On Tuesday night however, Villa were impressive all over the park. They harried, pressed and closed down the Palace players and didn't give them a moment's peace, while centre backs Joleon Lescott and Jores Okore were assured throughout. Up front, Jordan Ayew caused havoc and put in a performance of real class. The winner was completely fortuitous and they were given a massive helping hand by an awful Palace side. This is not sour grapes though, Villa played very well and gave their fans something to shout about for the first time in a long time. They are probably going down but if they play like this in every game at least they can say they went down fighting.
