2. Centre Forward: Edinson Cavani

In statistical terms, Edinson Cavani is coming off the most productive season of his career. Paris Saint-Germain couldn't win Ligue 1, but the Uruguayan forward was outstanding throughout 2016/17, notching 49 goals in 50 appearances. 8 of those came through PSG's Champions League run, and while the Uruguayan has been a streaky player throughout his career, the past year has washed much of those complaints away.

Cavani has always been prolific in fits and spurts, but previously drew a lot of criticism for his lack of composure in front of goal and tendency to go missing in big matches. Now 30 years old, it looks like he has overcome this problems. Two games was his longest goal drought last season, and now that he has finally become the focal point of PSG's attack, Cavani is thriving.

Cavani is an inherently aggressive footballer. He's always chasing opposing players down when PSG aren't in possession, and he's constantly looking for an opening when his side have the ball. Strikers will always be judged by their goal return, and after finally bringing his to the same level as the Leo Messis of the world, Cavani deserves to be recognised as the game's finest centre forward.
