Chelsea Transfer News: Jose Mourinho Wants Wayne Rooney At Stamford Bridge?

Express. One of the first priorities for the Portuguese manager, who yesterday delivered his first press conference at Stamford Bridge, is to buy in a new, world class striker to replace the misfiring Fernando Torres and Demba Ba. And the Europa League champions have been keeping a close eye on Rooney's contract development at Old Trafford, with no sign of a new deal in sight. If Rooney was seeking career guidance on his next move, Mourinho had a few choice words of encouragement by telling the star to follow his suit and "do what makes him happy". Prior to leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer to begin his second stint in West London, Mourinho told media he wanted to go to a club "where people love me to be" and he believes Rooney should do the same. He said:

€œIt€™s up to him what he wants, what makes him happy. He€™s a bit like me: he doesn€™t need one more pound on his contract. One more cup won€™t make a difference. €œBe happy. Where will he find more happiness to have the ambition and drive him? I like him as a boy. I wish him well and hope he is happy.€
Along with Chelsea, Arsenal are also interested in the ex-Everton man and will take his uncertain future in Manchester as signs of encouragement that a deal can yet be struck for the 27-year old.
