The Blues are understood to have held discussions regarding bringing Bakayoko to the Bridge this summer before the season had ended and the player is now expected to arrive in West London for a medical.
The 22-year-old has expressed a desire to move to the Premier League champions from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, but the asking price and high wage demands had so far led to the deal stalling.
However, with a deal now looking extremely likely, if the Frenchman was to arrive, he would create a formidable partnership in the centre of the field alongside fellow countryman N'Golo Kante.
Jose Mourinho was also rumoured to be preparing a move to take Bakayoko to Old Trafford, so Anotonio Conte will be hoping the deal goes through without any hick-ups derailing the move.
