College Football: Top 8 Finishes Of The Season

7. Nebraska 27 - Northwestern 24 (November 2, 2013)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhrK6kWRDJs After starting 4-1 and nearly upsetting #4 Ohio State, the Northwestern Wildcats dropped their next three Big Ten games to bring their record to less than impressive 4-4. On the other side of the field, Nebraska still controlled their own destiny on the path to a berth in the Big Ten Championship game, meaning if they win they rest of their games and avoid any mishaps, they'll play for a conference title. Things looked to be headed the opposite way as Northwestern jumped out to a quick 21-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Huskers defense stepped up from then on, forcing the Wildcats to punt on 10 of their final 11 possessions, and picking off a Kain Colter pass for the game-tying score. A few stalled drives later, Nebraska had the ball with three minutes left and could seal the game with a Touchdown, but Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw a crucial interception, his third on the day, that would give Northwestern the ball inside the Nebraska 10. Kain Colter got a big 1st down run to the one-yard line, and it seemed a touchdown was inevitable, but the Huskers defense held strong to keep the game in reach with just a Field Goal separating the teams. Now with former walk-on Ron Kellogg III taking the snaps at QB, Nebraska had 80 seconds to drive 83 yards to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since 2009. After driving to the 49, and with just four seconds remaining, the Cornhuskers would have just one more shot to win the game with a desperation Hail Mary. Kellogg launched the ball and it tipped off the hands of a Northwestern defender and into the hands of Redshirt Freshman Jordan Westerkamp for his first career touchdown, and would cap off the improbable Huskers win, 27-24.
