Everton 2-3 West Ham - 6 Things We Learned

6. Everton Should Have Put The Game To Bed

The Blues will be kicking themselves for throwing this one away. Despite West Ham€™s numerical advantage, they had the chances to kill the game off in the second half. Lukaku€™s penalty kick could have been the final nail in the visitors' coffin, but Adrian€™s instinctive save proved to be the catalyst that sparked the most unlikely of comebacks. Moments later, the big Belgian had the chance to make amends for his botched spot kick when Barkley split the Hammers' defence down the middle with a through ball. Goalkeepers don€™t often get the better of Rom in one-on-one situations, but Adrian came to the rescue again, doing well to block the Everton forward€™s shot with his feet. The home support started to fear the worst when Antonio€™s close-range header made the net ripple and were left crestfallen when Sakho nodded home Payet€™s cross to level things up, but what happened next left them in sheer disbelief.
