Everton vs Spurs: Player Ratings

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur had to settle for a share of the spoils in their Sunday lunchtime meeting at Goodison Park. Who impressed us in the WhatCulture office? Here are our player ratings:

Everton

Tim Howard: The busier of the two keepers with saves from Sandro, Walker and Sigurdsson. Booked for dissent and needlessly so over a trivial incident. 5.5/10. Seamus Coleman: Ireland's right back survived a tangle with Vertonghen in his own penalty area before having a claim of his own turned down in the second half. Coleman was clearly clipped by the Belgian defender, so experienced both good luck and ill-fortune in the same match. 6/10. Phil Jagielka: Shackled Soldado well and took one in the midriff for his trouble. Compelling evidence today of why Roy Hodgson regulars picks Jag as one of his centre backs for England. 6.5/10. Sylvain Distin: Brave second half block to deny Paulinho. Still has plenty to offer at the back despite his advancing years. Conceded a late free kick which could have cost the Toffees a point. 6/10. Leighton Baines: Found Townsend tough to handle, but adjusted well enough as the match wore on. Set piece deliveries always asked questions of Spurs defence although they were equal to them. 6/10.
