Fantasy Football Tips: 6 Essential Transfers You Must Make In Gameweek 31 - Part 1
2. David Silva
Team: Manchester City (vs Fulham, home) Position: Midfielder Value: £9.2m Selected by: 5.7% Total score: 105 It's frustrating, isn't it? Choosing players who have a solid reputation and play for a top side might not be an entirely good idea. The thing about these players are that they are able to earn you points almost all the time, but if they don't do so early in the game, they're likely to be substituted, usually with two or three points. Great players like Silva fare well against top teams most of the time, but against weaker opponents and an embarrassment of talents at the manager's disposal, they probably wouldn't be fielded, losing out on points once again. With a heightened value and no guarantee of full playing time during a hectic and vital final stretch with will probably fully utilise any team's bench, I personally would recommend him if, your midfield really, really sucks, or, you want to go all out with your midfield and don't mind slightly compromising on the quality of your offence. Luckily, the Spanish playmaker manage to complete the full 90 minutes on five appearances since he missed the match against Swansea, and in the two matches which he coincidentally completed 79 minutes, he amassed five points during both games. Hence, the only circumstances I can foresee the Spaniard not getting decent amount of points is when he, firstly, either isn't playing (against weaker sides), or secondly, he's having an off-day, which seems unlikely after his remarkable exploits against Hull City last week, or thirdly, his teammates overshadow him in the final contributions, especially during low-scoring affairs like the match against Hull City and the home encounter against Crystal Palace earlier in the season. Silva only manage to notch the basic two points on three occasions out of 18 appearances for The Citizens. With a steady amount of points guaranteed and his form currently going for him, get him, but only if you can afford him. It'll be worth it in the long run.
