5. John O'Shea - 4.5 Million
John O'Shea was a consistent part of Sunderland's defence that kept 13 clean sheets last season. He scored 107 points and with Patrick van Aanholt going up to 5.0 million it seems the Irishman could represent better value this season. The defender remains the Black Cats club captain, and is likely to start most games despite the signing of fellow centre backs Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Coates.
