Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquiao Is Official For May 2nd

Live gate and pay per view records are set to be smashed.

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he will fight Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd in Las Vegas. This will be the biggest financial combat sports event of all time, with a possible gross of $400 million. It is thought that Floyd will take the lions share in a 60-40 split. He confirmed the fight was official with a photo on the social media platform Shots. The money that will be made is staggering. Tickets are being priced up to total a $40 million live gate and the pay per view is expected to draw three million buys at a $100 price point. It will double the previous gate record and beat the 2.5 million pay per view buyrate set when Mayweather battled Oscar De La Hoya in 2007. The fight is years in the making. Mayweather is undefeated at 47-0, but the value of Pacquiao has diminished slightly since he was rocked by two losses in 2012. It is the biggest sporting event of a generation, but it really should have been booked years ago. Financial disputes and arguments over blood testing always got in the way in the past. Now both men are ready to go, as they realise it is now or never. Mayweather could very well retire after this match. As for who will come out on top, it is Manny's aggressive style against Floyd's fluid counter punching. Many experts have backed Pac-Man in the past, believing he has the key to unlock Mayweather's undefeated run. However, it would be a brave man who bets against Mayweather. That's what makes this fight so big. Both are fantastic and the years of anticipation have only pushed the drawing power further. The world will be watching when the bell rings in the MGM Grand this May 2nd.
