According to reports in The Huddersfield Daily Examiner, David Wagner wants to bring relegated Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri to the Kirklees Stadium.

Huddersfield Town aren't the only Premier League side looking at the diminutive Swiss international. The 26-year-old has already been linked with a number of other English clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Everton, West Ham and Southampton.

Realistically, it'll be hard for Wagner to convince Shaqiri on a move if sides the size of Spurs and Liverpool show serious interest. Further, the player's ex-boss Mark Hughes is in charge at Southampton, and that may be key in any move he makes this summer.

Shaqiri is looking to make a hasty exit from Stoke after The Potters were relegated to the Championship at the tail end of last season. There's no doubt a player of his quality should be plying his trade in the Premier League, and it seems there's no shortage of admirers.

The Examiner did also report that Shaqiri is attracting interest from Serie A giants Roma and Galatasaray in Turkey. Now, Huddersfield are the latest to emerge as a shock option for the wide man.
