Jermain Defoe to Sign For Liverpool?

Is the out-of-favour Tottenham striker on the way to Merseyside?

Jermain Defoe to Anfield, according to increasing speculation on Transfer Deadline Day. With Tottenham widely expected to not only seal a permanent move for Emmanuel Adebayor, but also move for Wigan's Hugo Rodallega, Defoe could well be forced to move on. The 29-year-old striker could be available for around £7 million after playing no more than a bit-part role in Tottenham's title chasing side this season. By 2pm the odds on Defoe moving to Liverpool had been slashed to evens, despite Phil Smith (Defoe's Agent) telling TalkSport at lunch-time that there was "no chance" of his client making the switch to Merseyside. But with Andy Carroll still hoping to regain the form which saw him earn a £35 million switch from Tyneside, and Craig Bellamy in arguably the form of his career, would Defoe simply be moving from warming one bench to warming another?
