Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Battling Reds For Atletico Madrid's Arda Turan

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Manchester United will do battle for the signature of Atletico Madrid's Turkish attacker Arda Turan in January. The Daily Express revealed that both Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes have had 26-year-old winger Turan scouted. He is understood to have a £33 million (‚40 million) release clause in his contract at Atletico with the two English top flight clubs considering whether to pay it. Red Devils manager Moyes has turned to Turan as he looks for a wide option with Champions League experience. The Turk has played several seasons in the competition first with Galatasaray and now in the Spanish capital under Diego Simeone. Turan has been consistently linked with a switch to Anfield for a couple of years, and that interest could be renewed in the winter window as Reds boss Rodgers looks for reinforcements. Ahmet Bulut, the player's agent, hinted last year that Turan wants to play in English football. "A destination in the Premier League would be to the liking of the player and I can confirm there are clubs interested," he said. Four assists and three goals from Turan in all competitions have helped Atletico through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and put them second in La Liga behind Barcelona.
