Liverpool Transfer News: Team GB's Daniel Sturridge & Scott Sinclair to Anfield?

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is preparing to make a formal offer for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge as he looks to improve his attacking options at Anfield.

Caught Offside. The former Chelsea reserve team coach is a huge admirer of the England international and Team GB forward and sees him as a striker who could compliment Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini as a new look front-line for next season. 22-year-old Sturridge has just suffered from meningitis but he has made an astonishing recovery to play in Team GB's Olympics campaign. Though in truth he didn't have his best of games last night, resulting in a spot-kick that was saved by the South Korean 'keeper in the penalty shoot-out that saw Team GB crash out of the tournament at the Quarter Finals stage. The Chelsea forward was hoping to return to Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in the starting line-up but since Roberto Di Matteo took over from Andre Villas-Boas, Sturridge was left out of both the FA Cup and Champions League final victories. He may also find it difficult to get into the Chelsea side with Di Matteo continuing his big spending spree that has already seen Oscar, Eden Hazard and Marko Marin arrive at Stamford Bridge, with more potentially on the way in forward positions. Meanwhile, in the same Caught Offside story, Rodgers is being linked with interest in Swansea winger Scott Sinclair. Reportedly, Rodgers is looking to link up with his former wide man/forward who only has one year left to run on his deal at the Liberty Stadium. However if Liverpool are to make a deal for the forward it will have to be better than one offered by Manchester City as reports today suggest Roberto Mancini also has interest in the player.
