During the Premier League era, Liverpool have been a club who are known to spend money. This summer alone, manager Brendan Rodgers topped the £100M mark, bringing in the likes of Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli to strengthen Liverpool's squad as they plot a title challenge. Rodgers has continued a tradition from former managers Gerard Houllier and Rafa Benitez who also weren't afraid to splash the cash at Anfield, but his predecessors did so with mixed results. There's been many a player in the past who the Reds have well and truly over-paid for, with the £35M they paid for Andy Carroll undoubtedly the worst, along with fees paid for the likes of El Hadji Diouf and Djbril Cisse. However, the Reds are no strangers to bargains either and have signed some of the world's best players for a cut price fee like Luis Garcia in 2004 and Pepe Reina in 2006. But even considering their quality, there have been better, cheaper signings who have proved much more worthy of their bargain status...
