Just 18 months ago, it seemed as though the flying Ukranian winger was on his way to Anfield before Dnipro pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute. But the pacy wing-forward is precisely the type of player Liverpool need.

England fans will remember Konoplyanka terrorising Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson in various international qualifiers in recent years, and the Ukraine man scored a stunning goal at Wembley in 2013.

Konoplyanka excels in one-on-one situations with opposing defenders and is considered to be one of the best - if not THE best - player in Ukraine, and is available on a free this summer having refused to renew his contract at the Europa League finalists.

The 25-year old, who had his heart set on a move to The Reds in 2014, stated: €œMy goal as a child was to play in England. The league is stronger and I still want to try my hand there.€

Konoplyanka has impressed in Dnipro€™s excellent European run this season and has scored 21 goals for the Eastern European's in the last two years - the exact same number that Raheem Sterling managed in the same time period.
