3. Harry Kewell
Destination: Liverpool Hindsight is a wonderful thing, though not if you are Harry Kewell, who in 2003 signed for Liverpool instead of United, with his agent saying: "Harry signed a five-year deal with Liverpool and wanted to go to a team that's on the up." Kewell, who is currently a free agent looking for a club in the UK, didn't envisage a future where United, rather than "slump", would rebuild and maintain their incredible success. He would go on to win 2 major trophies with Liverpool, followed by a spell at Galatasaray. Apart from being part of that famous Champion's League triumph in Istanbul you would have to say Kewell's Liverpool career didn't take off in the manner he would have hoped. Ferguson will also look back and probably feel missing out on Kewell didn't do him or his team much harm. That said, Kewell hasn't exactly had a terrible career - far from it in fact. Along with the memories of Istanbul, he has played 58 times for Australia, including in 2 World Cups. He is also only without a club at the moment due to moving back to the UK for family reasons. You would imagine there is a club out there who will take a chance on him sooner rather than later. Probably not United though... Sources:
