Man Utd Next Boss: 10 Replacements For Louis Van Gaal

7. Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone is probably not a fan favourite in Manchester following his role in David Beckham's red card at the 1998 World Cup, but his ability in the dugout cannot be questioned. It seemed unlikely that anyone could breach the Barcelona and Real Madrid dominance in La Liga, and then an Argentinian cat was put amongst the pigeons. Simeone returned to the Spanish capital in 2011 and claimed the league title in 2014, just like he did as a player in 1996. Atletico Madrid are probably the fittest side in Spain, and his side boasts the meanest defence, having conceded only 14 goals in 30 games. One stumbling block for Simeone coming to the Premier League would be what kind of control he has. At Atletico, he is in charge of everything. The picture may not be as clear at Manchester United. Simeone will want control over all transfers, which may not be possible. Simeone has shown how ruthless he can be with the handling of Mario Mandzukic. The Croatian striker was sold by Simeone after just one season due to a falling out. Simeone could be ideal for Manchester United, who are in desperate need for someone to come in and ruffle some feathers.
