Man Utd Transfer News: David Moyes To Go Back In For Ander Herrera and Leighton Baines

Daily Mail. Though Moyes was relieved to be reunited with Marouane Fellaini, who joined the Old Trafford club in a dramatic eleventh-hour deal, both his and United's reputation suffered as deadline day passed with just two new acquisitions. The Premier League champion's only other signing was rookie Guillermo Varela while their rivals Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and even Arsenal spent big this summer. New chief executive Ed Woodward has shouldered much of the blame for the lack of new signings and Moyes is eager to claw back some credibility in the January window by finally landing his targets. The Scotsman will keep a watchful eye on Herrera between now and the end of the year and will look for any signs of Baines struggling to settle at Goodison Park again following United's interest. Of the two, Herrera could be the more realistically-attainable given his apparent desire to move to Manchester on deadline day, though Everton are hoping to hand Baines a new contract on £75,000 a week €” a rise of around £25,000-a-week on his current deal. United will be hoping for better luck in the transfer market in January having wasted valuable time on Fabregas and faltering at almost every turn on Monday's deadline day.
