Man Utd vs Reading Preview: Red Devils Must Stay Focused

th League title. One of the biggest questions for the home side could be whether Robin van Persie breaks his current drought for United. The Dutchman hasn€™t scored in his last four starts for the club, and has since seen Liverpool€™s Luis Suarez overtake him in the league scoring charts. It€™s over six years since the striker went five starts without finding the net. Reading on the other hand, find themselves in an altogether more precarious situation. After a run of four straight league defeats, the Royals are joint bottom of the Premier League, along with fellow strugglers QPR. And it was this run of games that ultimately cost manager Brian McDermott his job at the Madejski. The news came as a shock to fans and players alike, and there is probably no harder test to come up against after losing a manager than playing Manchester United at Old Trafford. No club in the bottom three has changed a manager this late in the season and remained in the Premier League. Reading will be fighting for their very survival, and have shown that they are no pushovers in their last two meetings against Sir Alex€™s men. They barely lost against them in the reverse of this fixture last December with the result finishing 4-3 to United, and were again narrowly edged in the FA cup against the Reds in February, losing 2-1. But United undoubtedly go into the match as favourites, and it€™s hard to see Reading upsetting the form book in any way. Owner Anton Zingarevich€™s gamble may prove a death sentence to the Royals.
