Match Preview

This evening Manchester United will welcome Andre Villas-Boas€™ team to Old Trafford ahead of their first encounter of the season. Manchester United have started this season in a good form and are the favourites going into this match. Spurs have started to find form this season having secured back-to-back wins although in the early games against West Brom and Norwich they could only managed a draw and were defeated in their first game by Newcastle, 2-1. Both teams won their midweek games in the Capital One Cup as Manchester United defeated Newcastle and Tottenham put three past Carlisle. Manchester United€™s Robin van Persie will be looking to continue his good form and to improve his goal tally against Tottenham which currently stands at five goals in his last six games against the London club.

Team News

Manchester United and Tottenham are both suffering with injuries as Vidic, Jones, Smalling, Valencia, Young are all out for Manchester United and Spurs are missing out on Adebayor, Gomes, Parker, Livermore, Assou-Ekotto and Kaboul. Tottenham manager, Andre Villas-Boas also has a goalkeeping decision to make, as Hugo Lloris is unhappy at not being chosen over Brad Friedel.
