Regardless of how good your players are or how many trophies you have just won, you always need to strengthen your squad. Even Manchester City and all the millions they have already spent to win the title needs to be added too if they are to repeat the feat next year. For that reason I have drawn up a short list of players who could be available to the new champions of England and would instantly make them contenders for Chelsea's European Champions League crown next season.
Daniel Alves (RWB) - Barcelona
Everybody in the world knows about the strengths and weaknesses of the Barcelona right-back but in case you don't here's a quick run down... Great pace complimented by a terrific engine means he can spend all of the game bombing up and down the right wing for Barcelona. His crossing can be a bit wayward at times and he can get caught out of position but his pace and desire gets him back to win back possession. Like any good Brazilian he has an eye for goal as well and will chip in with 4 or 5 strikes a season. Has a cannon for a right foot as shown by the goal he got against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Spanish Cup quarter final. Why is he on this list I here you ask? Well Barcelona don't have much money to spend this year and they need to sell to improve an under-performing team last season. Meanwhile they already have a replacement in youngster Martin Montoya coming through in his position and the Barca brass rate him highly. Alves is also going through a pretty nasty and expensive divorce and the chance to double his wages and get himself a nice big signing bonus that is all his might be to much to pass up on. Estimated Cost: £22 - 27 million.
