Newcastle Closing In On £5 Million Daryl Janmaat Deal

Feyenoord and Netherlands defender is seen as Mathieu Debuchy's replacement.

Newcastle United are close to signing Feyenoord right-back Daryl Janmaat, according to the Chronicle, with Mathieu Debuchy set to head in the opposite direction and join Arsenal. Janmaat arrived back in Holland on Sunday following the end of his World Cup campaign and the Magpies are keen to wrap up a deal for the defender. Reports suggest the Magpies are 'close' to signing the 24-year-old in a £5 million deal, and that the fullback is keen on a move to the Premier League and plying his trade in England's topflight. Any deal for Janmaat could spark the start of a busy week for Alan Pardew's side, with Debuchy set to head in the opposite direction and complete his transfer to Arsenal. The Frenchman is expected to be allowed to leave St James' Park, but only once his replacement is brought in in the shape of Janmaat, say NUFC.com. Janmat, who is expected to arrive in Newcastle on Tuesday, would become Pardew's fifth signing of the summer so far, following the arrivals of Jack Colback, Ayoze Perez, Siem de Jong and Remy Cabella, who completed his move from French side Montpellier earlier today. Newcastle fans - is this a good deal? Let us know in the comment section, below.
