Newcastle Loan Report: Armstrong Bags A Brace And Woodman Earns A Start

How did the young loanees get on during their respective debuts?

Newcastle United's first-team squad may have started their 2015-16 Barclays Premier League campaign off with an entertaining 2-2 draw at home to Southampton, but they were not the only Magpies on display over the weekend. In fact, there are currently four members of the Toon squad who are out and about at various clubs across the Football League on loan, plying their trade and learning their craft in the lower divisions of English football. Forward Adam Armstrong has moved temporarily to League One Coventry City, while winger Sammy Ameobi has headed out on loan to Championship side Cardiff City. In addition, versatile left-winger or left-back Shane Ferguson has found himself in London and England's third tier with League One Millwall, while young goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is enjoying his first real taste of senior football with League Two Crawley Town. No-one can quite be sure what the future holds for this quintet - whether or not they will ever be Newcastle first-team regulars remains to be seen - but the experience they could gain from each of these respective temporary moves could prove invaluable. Here, WhatCulture.com/NUFC runs you through how each of the four Newcastle United loanees got on in their respective debuts over the weekend...
