Newcastle Transfer News: Bafetimbi Gomis Hints Toon Move Desire On Twitter

Twitter about a potential move to St James' Park this summer. The Lyon striker was questioned by Toon fans if he would be joining the club and gave a series of frank and honest responses via his official account on the micro-social networking site. One user, called Reece_Embery, asked the 27-year-old if he was learning English and whether he "was ready for a move to NUFC". The striker replied:

"Yeah I started a little bit but not fluent in Jordy (sic) yet".
gomistweet The exchanges come as Newcastle continue to be linked with the former Saint-Etienne forward, with the Magpies reportedly agreeing a fee for the player. The North East club had a £6.9 million bid rejected by Lyon earlier this week but have since had an ‚8 million bid accepted. The move could be completed as early as this weekend with Gomis yet to agree personal terms with the club. Meanwhile, in another strangely candid Tweet, Gomis remarked:
"Thanks 4 all the support that u guys give me, sadly the decision to come join u is not my own its more complicated. Excuse 4 my translation"
That comment likely refers to the complex issue of fees owed to the player's agents. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently said:
"The agreement is now linked to the acceptance of agents' fees. I understand that the problem is in the amount and manner of payment of commissions. "There are several people involved in the operation, which complicates the negotiations, but I am hopeful that things will be resolved within 24 or 48 hours."
Should the deal go through, Gomis would become the 12th French-born player at Newcastle, and would follow compatriot Loic Remy in joining the Magpies. Remy has completed his loan switch from Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers in a 12-month deal.
