Premier League 2019/20 - Every Away Kit Ranked!
This is (football) Clubland.
The new season is but ten seconds old, and already Manchester City have tediously hoovered up yet another trophy (technically an ornamental shield, but let's not quibble) to add to their expensively-assembled collection.
And they did so in a paradoxically tasteful, entirely unadorned commemorative strip, designed to mark the club's 125th anniversary, whilst they continue to pretend they're same entity that nobly existed, struggled on, prior to the Abu Dhabi takeover.
Of course, that was a complete one-off. The actual Man City strip has all the usual commercial bells and whistles we've come to expect from a modern football shirt. Compared to this year's away effort however, it's decidedly spartan. The neon-wonder looks like the product of a major psychotropic trip - just what you'd expect from a shirt inspired by the Hacienda nightclub.
And precisely what you'd expect from an away kit. Tradition, pride, history: you can leave all that at, and for, home (which we ranked here). Change strips are where football's fashionistas get to really live out their wildest and occasionally most depraved dreams, mixing colours which should simply never meet, and then inventing b*llocks new terms to describe them.
Or, you know, just make a bunch of plain white shirts. Whatever.
20. Leicester
Leicester have tried to pass their new away kit off as something worth having, even though it's literally the 'Campeon' template used most recently by Germany in a lurid shade of 'true pink'. Imagine how vile it'd look in pretend pink?
