Spurs Transfer News: "Unhappy" Gareth Bale Misses Training

Sky Sports. The 24-year-old has been the subject of one of this summer's most enduring of transfer sagas with Madrid reportedly close on securing the midfielder's services in a world-record deal. The Spurs star was expected to meet up with his current team-mates this morning but didn't turn up amid claims he is unhappy with the way Tottenham are handling proceedings. Reports emerged over the Bank Holiday weekend that Real are not the only club interested in the Wales international and that Spurs are considering a rival bid, with rumours claiming Manchester United have entered the race. Bale now appears to be losing patience as the transfer window enters its final week with his move to Madrid hanging in the balance. Following last night's 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford, United manager David Moyes refused to deny whether it was his club who had submitted a rival bid for Bale. The Scot would only say:

"I said at the start when I got the job that Manchester United will always be interested in the best players and we're always looking to try to improve the team. "The owners have given me every opportunity to bring in who I want and we'll continue to try and find those players. "It's been tough in this window but we're always looking at the best players. I can't give you any more."
Bale scored 21 Premier League goals last season and was voted PFA Player of the Year.
