Sunderland's Best XI Of The Decade (So Far)

LB. Danny Rose

Sunderland's ongoing left back woes look to have finally been solved thanks to the arrival of Patrick van Aanholt, but previous seasons saw the Black Cats forced to rely upon a combination of loanees and out-of-position squad members. Tottenham's Danny Rose was easily the most impressive in this regard, patrolling the left flank with lightning pace and unwavering energy. He didn't get forward as much as he has in recent Spurs seasons, but provided much-needed defensive stability. Best Moment: Never the most headline-grabbing player in a Sunderland shirt, Rose impressed more through his consistency than any particular moment of brilliance. He was, however, a crucial component of the team's important 1-0 home win against Everton - a result which pushed the Black Cats to the bring of survival in 2012/13. He locked down the left flank, giving Seamus Coleman and Steven Pienaar no chance of making an impact.
