UFC: 10 Controversial Moments Between Chael Sonnen & Wanderlei Silva

7. Silva Nearly Quits Coaching The Ultimate Fighter

Despite Silva claiming that he taught Sonnen about respect, he still demanded an apology from Sonnen on The Ultimate Fighter. There have been a plethora of insults directed towards Brazil from Sonnen. The quotes were from a few years ago, yet it still enraged Silva. Besides having an aggressive fighting style, Silva is most notably known for always commanding respect. That's what led him to demanding an apology from Sonnen. Who can blame him, considering Sonnen is now coaching in the country that he had made a stand-up routine of. After all the nasty remarks and not receiving an apology, Silva nearly quit the show. It was a strange turn of events, when the supposed "bad guy" in Sonnen was now being labeled as a good guy for keeping his composure. Silva was infuriated by not having his demands accepted and wasn't putting enough attention into coaching his team. Now the Brazilian representing his home country against an American has somehow become the bad guy. How this wasn't scripted in some facet is still mind boggling. Brazil is known for being so loyal to their fighters by traveling in packs to Las Vegas and other American cities to support their fights. On the TUF Brazil final that changed when Silva was booed after being mentioned by TUF winner Antonio Carlos Junior in his post-fight interview. You have to wonder if Silva wishes he quit the season now.
