UFC: Ranking George St. Pierre's 12 Title Fight Wins

11. GSP vs. Jake Shields

Jake Shields was billed as a dominant champion in Strikeforce when he was brought into the UFC. This was well before the rest of the Strikeforce roster was merged in, and the hype to the Shields fight was simple: Champion vs. Champion. On paper, this looked close. Shields held wins over Dan Henderson, Robbie Lawler, and Paul Daley, and hadn't lost a fight in years. Could he be the man to finally dethrone GSP? Well, what looks close on paper doesn't always work out that way in real life. In April 2011, in front of the largest live audience in UFC history in Toronto, Shields did manage to win a round against GSP, which broke the champ's 30-round win streak, but that was it. For the most part, he was dominated in a dull fight that saw GSP have trouble with his eyesight early, an injury that probably hurt the action in the end.
