World Cup 2014: 10 Biggest Stars Who Won't Be There

3. Robert Lewandowski

Poland and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is another star to have enjoyed successful domestic form over the last year, only to miss out on World Cup qualification. The Poles finished fourth in Group H behind group winners England, runners up Ukraine and third-placed Montenegro, and failed to emulate the side that famously helped knock the Three Lions out of qualifying in 1974, before going on to finish third in that tournament, their best ever World Cup finish. Lewandowski will be badly missed from next summer's competition and is one of Europe's more potent of finishers - his four goals for Dortmund against Real Madrid in last season's first leg of the Champions League semi-finals making him the first player in history to have achieved such a feat.
