World Cup 2018: 10 Potential Breakout Stars

2. Sergej Milinković-Savić (Serbia)

Few names will occupy as many transfer wishlists as Sergej Milinković-Savić's this summer. The Serb has developed into one of the world's most complete midfielders since joining Lazio in 2015, and is coming off a career-making 2017-18 season, during which his 12 goals and three assists helped the Biancocelesti to a Europa League qualification.

Milinković-Savić quality transcends numbers, though. He's almost without weakness, and his complete set of attributes make him capable of taking over any modern midfield. From snuffing out opposing attacks to launching his own with expert thrust, movement, and power on the ball, there's not a scenario he can't handle. Sergej plays like a peak Yaya Touré, and at 23 years old, has the potential to surpass the former Manchester City before long, establishing himself as one of the world's most dominant all-rounders.

Serbia are unfancied in Russia, and will do well to escape a group featuring Brazil and Switzerland. Whatever happens, Milinković-Savić should be their fulcrum, and will look to take games over behind the burly Aleksandar Mitrovic in attack. After that, a blockbuster £88 million move to one of the world's biggest clubs sounds good...
