10 Greatest Ship Entrances In Star Trek

7. Kronos One - Star Trek VI

Another ship entry from the sixth film here, and the Klingon flagship, Kronos One, is set to rendevous with the Enterprise-A, ready to deliver Chancellor Gorkon to Earth. Bear in mind that the last time a Klingon Battlecruiser had been seen was back in Star Trek II, and then only as stock footage.

The entrance from the side of the screen, altering its trajectory to line up with the Enterprise-A, is an awe-inspiring shot. It seems to slide out of the side of the screen, right itself, and come straight toward the audience. Though we had seen these types of ships before, to quote Commander Chekov, we'd never been this close.

The ship continues on, flying over the edge of the screen, giving the audience a strafing view of the underside of the head, neck, and body. It then positions itself ahead of the Starfleet vessel, as though deliberately showing its back to them. While Gorkon himself may have been a champion of peace, his helmsman apparently wasn't.

It has always been a beautiful moment in a dark film, not least in the fact we got to see the new paint job for the model, with golds and reds, along with the traditional gunship grey.
