10 Star Trek Timelines That Were Erased

4. Happy Confederation Day!

In Star Trek, most one-off timelines tend to be exactly that: one-off. For Star Trek: Picard's second season, the writers decided to take things in a different direction. Q's deterioration led him to send Picard on another quest, though this was far less mischievous than his previous visits.

Q ends up sending Jean-Luc, Raffi, Seven, Rios, and Elnor into an altered version of the present. Here, there is no Federation, nor is there a Starfleet, so to speak. Instead, the Confederation rules supreme. In one chilling scene, Q shows Picard the skulls of the latter's enemies. At least, they belong to the enemies of General Picard, slain, and put on display as a warning for those who would challenge him.

This was anathema to Admiral Picard, who immediately set about setting history right again. This included seeking help from the Borg Queen, travelling back to the 21st century, dallying with yet another Soong, and enduring yet more personal loss.

Though Q helped to send them home in the end, this was one of the darkest visits from the omnipotent being - one who may or may not be dead, depending on the day of the week.
