Where season one had run into some difficulties with the Inquiry Class, seasons two and three flourished with the addition of ships from the universe of Star Trek Online

The Pathfinder Class (noted as being the class of the USS Voyager-B) made the transition from the gaming realm to the show as the Thomas Marrone designed USS Drexler NCC-97626.

Online has provided a rich source of starships for recent Star Trek shows as well as variants spiralling off in all directions. In the case of the Pathfinder Class, it has been around in some form since 2014. What isn't clear onscreen is whether or not the class is fitted out with the ablative armour feature Voyager brought back from the Delta Quadrant in Endgame. In the Online world, this is one of the key elements of the class which is stated to be a direct descendant of the Intrepid Class and the technology that Voyager returned with.

The class itself is named after the project that brought Voyager home. Online suggests that this ship does boast slipstream technology among its many features and also sensor dampening which is about as close to a cloaking device as the Federation can legally get without tripping over that pesky Treaty of Algeron.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
