Star Trek: 10 Secrets About The USS Enterprise-F You Need To Know
1. No To The Upgrade
The brief inclusion of the Enterprise-F in Picard officially cemented its story into the annals of the franchise as well as providing a firm nod to Star Trek Online. Having said that, its appearance onscreen has now canceled an important part of its narrative.
In Star Trek Online, the Enterprise-F actually received a complete overhaul after the conclusion of the Iconian War. This saw a change in the paint scheme, plus reworkings of its warp engines, adjustments to the pylons, and the addition of much more prominent impulse engines. These are just a few of the noticeable external modifications introduced in the episode Scyllia and Charybdis. The only time this has been seen physically in the Eaglemoss-produced model.
The upgrade would also see the Enterprise become part of the Yorktown sub-class denoting the significant changes to the look of the ship. This in itself is a tribute to the original intended name of the hero ship in Gene Roddenberry's earliest drafts of the show.
The company had previously released the F in its Online livery as well as a "screen version" grey to match the other TV/movie Enterprise models that had been issued. The Picard producers chose to use that Online paint finish in the series, meaning the Eaglemoss "grey" variant is an extreme oddity only found as an option in the game.
