10 Actors Who HATED Making TV Shows

2. Colin Farrell - The Penguin

Community Pierce Chevy Chase

Colin Farrell has rightly been earning rave reviews for his performance as Oswald Cobb in HBO's The Penguin - a spin-off series from Matt Reeves' superhero epic The Batman.

As in that film, playing the iconic supervillain saw Farrell undergo an extensive physical transformation via makeup and prosthetics, requiring him to be in the makeup chair for a gruelling three hours per shooting day.

And while Farrell has only spoken highly of the show itself, he couldn't mask how irritable the entire process made him, saying that when he wrapped the show, he said to himself, "I never want to put that f**king suit and that f**king head on again." He elaborated to Total Film:

"Don't get me wrong - I loved it - but it got in on me a little bit. By the end of it, I was bitching and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I f**king wanted it to be finished. I tried to remind them that I had 'grumpy gratitude.' I was still grateful, and still honored - I grew up watching Burgess Meredith, and then Danny DeVito was my Penguin - so being a part of the lineage of that storytelling, I really did feel privileged. But by the end of it..."

When asked about returning to the makeup chair for a second season, Farrell understandably seemed unsure, adding that he would consider it "maybe in a year."
