10 Actors Who Sneakily Played Two Characters In A TV Show
1. Donald Glover - Atlanta
Teddy Perkins is probably the best episode of the Donald Glover series Atlanta; and if you disagree, you have to admit it is the most recognisable and polarising one.
Donald Glover, or Childish Gambino depending on what you know him for, is undeniably one of the biggest talents in the world right now. From Troy in Community to Simba in the live action Lion King remake, from his incredible music career to creating, writing and staring in Atlanta as Earn; Glover is pretty much a reincarnated King Midas.
But there is one role that Glover played that you most definitely didn't notice at first. In fact, you may never have noticed it if not for fan speculation online.
Season one of Atlanta proved that Donald Glover was capable of creating a clever and entertaining piece of television, but it was with season two that Glover really found his footing with the show. Creating one off episodes that play with the show's themes and genres; one such episode was the aforementioned Teddy Perkins.
Teddy Perkins was a twisted and creepy episode that drew parallels from the famous political-horror Get Out. The episode sees character Darius arrive at a mysterious mansion to collect a piano from Teddy. Teddy is a Michael Jackson looking rich guy that becomes increasingly unnerving throughout the episode. And one thing that added to the intrigue of the character, was the fact her was credited simply as "himself" at the end of the episode.
But it didn't take long for the internet to start sleuthing to decide who exactly it was under the prosthetics. And what do you know, it turned out to be Glover himself in the Teddy Perkins make-up all along. The reveal definitely garners a re-watch of the episode.
