10 Actors You Won't Believe Were Nearly Cast In Friends

7. Jon Faverau - Chandler

Can you really picture anybody else as Chandler Bing other than Matthew Perry? Could he BE any more perfect for the part? Fans of Friends will obviously say, "No, of course not," because that's how this stuff works, but isn't it odd to think that he was very nearly played by Jon Faverau, who you know as the director of Iron Man and the star of movies like Swingers? Faverau is a talented guy, of course, but imagining him reading Perry's lines - and hanging out with Matt LeBlanc - feels blasphemous and wrong. Luckily Faverau turned down the part to concentrate on his writing, but fans of the show will know that the actor later appeared in multiple episodes of the show as a completely different character - Monica's super rich boyfriend (and wannabe cage fighter) Pete. Faverau was great as Pete, and for a while audiences might've even been okay with Monica ending up with him forever. The writers eventually opted to reduce the character into something of a weirdo, however, though Faverau managed to make it both hilarious and pathetic in equal manner. Aw, Pete: you freak.
