It's impossible to share any of the dozens of hilarious quotes from Malcolm Tucker - the Alistair Campbell-inspired political spin doctor who presides over the other characters of The Thick Of It like a potty-mouthed Prospero - because there's rarely a moment where he isn't swearing. And boy is he good at swearing. Played by Peter "Doctor Who" Capaldi, Tucker is a real force of nature and quite possibly one of the greatest comic characters ever created; a political tyrant who has transformed put downs and abuse into an art form. There's far more to the appeal of The Thick Of It than just Capaldi's lambasting of Tony Blair's spin doctor - with Armando Iannucci behind the series there's plenty of scathing satire about the bungling nature of British politics and their desperate efforts to cover up for incompetence. If political comedies aren't necessarily your thing, The Thick Of It could prove to be the exception to the rule - in one sense it's like The Office on overdrive.
