Yuu Otosaka has a unique ability that allows him to possess the body of another person, but only for five seconds. Using this ability, Yuu becomes the most popular student at his school, and gets the highest grades in his year. Things seem to be going well for our body swapping protagonist, especially after using his power to both endanger then save the life of the most attractive girl in school so she will date him. It was only a matter of time until karma caught up with him, as he is called to retake a test under suspicion of cheating.

Attempting to cheat once again, the whole thing turned out to be a trap set by the camera wielding Nao Tomori. Revealing herself to also to have the power to turn invisible to one person at a time and as the student council president of a school that houses other students with powers, Nao blackmails Yuu to transfer to her school and join the student council in order to help find other kids with powers of their own. Going along with her plans, Yuu and his little sister Ayumi have no choice but to enroll in the school.

Although things are fun and cheery at first, it’s only a matter of time before things get dark as a sudden death leads to Yuu entering a downward spiral into depression. After Nao is able to help him recover from his loss, Yuu discovers there’s more to his power than he thought: not only can he enter another’s body, but he also takes the power of the person whose body he enters.

Taking a power that allows him to time travel, Yuu undoes the death, only to realize there’s something else he must do. He needs to travel around the world, taking the power of every individual with them, so that no one is at risk of being endangered for their powers. Even if that means putting the biggest target imaginable on his back, Yuu sets off traveling around the world, vowing to come back to Nao once he's taken every power for himself.
