10. Illyrio Mopatis

Played by Roger Allam, of The Thick Of It and Peter Mannion fame, Illyrio is a wealthy merchant, who is using his money to prop up Daenerys' attempt to take The Iron Throne. He also presented Daenerys, via her brother, with the dragons which have become central to her fight for Westeros. With such a central role, it's amazing he's only featured in a couple of episodes. In fact, since Season One he's barely featured at all. That said, the smart money says that will change when Verys finally reaches Daenerys as the two seemed to have an understanding when Arya overheard them at King's Landing. He's a more influential character than many would realise, but certainly not a name that trips off the tongue, though you have to think his habit of keeping Unsullied as slaves might cause friction next time the Daenerys and he meet.
